Subjects

Hey everybody, in 2 months I am about to start IB diploma program and of course I am terribly nervous! I would like to ask your advice. The thing is that I want to study politics and/or social sciences at a university. So I really don't know what is better to choose. So far my choice is:

+ German (certificate)

Do you think it is better to take English A2 or English B? Of course A2 is a higher level and so on, but do you think I REALLY will need a level like that to enter a uni in England? Maybe English B is ok? Also Math Studies... Right now I have a top grade in math, but I am a really afraid to take anything higher than Math Studies... I don't like math, I have always had a private teacher in it and that's how I got the best grade. But again, maybe universities prefer a higher level, does anybody know that?

Anyhow thanks a lot!

hmm. ..well i recommend u to take EngB HL/SL then A2..coz A2 is rather not a child's play...but u ll enjoy in B HL/SL..i guarantee you..and math studies..though it seems to be easy but math SL is much easier than that..and also math SL fulfills the requirement of uni...

moreover r u an IB student in norway...?can i ask where..

...I AM AN IB NERD...AND I AM PROUD OF IT...

It depends on what you want to study in University, and the requirements of that uni. Do you have any ideas?

In that case, unless you want to do an exchange programme in Italy or Spain, the type of language you choose won't really count. If you really want to head for the best schools perhaps you should choose the language you believe you'll get the highest IB score on?

I don't if the system changed since when I was an IB student, but aren't you supposed to take two languages?

yes, you still have to take two languages. I'm torn between taking two (and physics) or three (without physics).

Hi there. I think you got some of this wrong. But on the other hand there are a few things you acctually convinced me with. Can you add more to that?

Sorry to jump in.

I had a similar situation when I was doing the IB. I had english A1 and had to choose from french, spanish and japanese. It wasnt easy but I decided to take up french in the end.

I think ur choice with physics is a fair one coz u can ALWAYS take up languages in Uni or even after uni once u start working!! Fine it's not easy but hey if ur motivated enough I'm sure u'll reach a decent point.

I like your view btw, DON'T REGRET ANYTHING!! Tho u can look back and dwell on it for a while and learn from it

Desperate! need help with my TOK essay

by clbsnowangel on 15 Jun 2005 01:55 pm

Hi, my name is Cecille and I chose question #4 for my TOK essay:

"To what extend do personal attributes affect ways of knowing and why,if at all, does answering this question matter in the first place"

At first I thought it was going to be easier but I find it difficult to structure.

Please could you give some ideas? Thanks a lot.

Hey~

This post actually belongs in the ToK area, but I haven't worked out how to move posts yet so for now it will remain here.

This is a very nice question! You're lucky!

First remember that you must look at your question from four main angles - reason, emotion, language, and perception. Using these big topics as a guideline start brain storming. Once you do this I think you'll find that your points will start connecting and you'll have a skeleton of an essay.

If you need more help feel free to ask, but it'd be great if they were more specific.
