Anyone taking Social and Cultural Higher level?

by takingIBwithalakeofsalt on 21 Oct 2007 01:58 am

What is the syllabus for the class? My school said that it would be teaching anthropology this year and I was plaaning on it for higher level, now I find myself in the IB art history class instead and you can't take that higher level. Our teacher said he'd give us some work (this is the same teacher that was going to teach anthro.) But.. he hasn't. I'd love to not take a test higher level, that I know nothing about. Especially since I'd love to get my diploma and I'm bothering to do my extended essay. Any suggestions or links to possible study sources would be greatly appreciated.

How do you find Anthropology?

by Fier on 29 Nov 2004 09:43 am

To those taking IB anthropology, how do you find it. What are your other options appart ffrom it and why did you choose it. The three options I'm considering are Anthropology, Biology, and Chemistry. I don't know which two to take... Any ideas

I took soc.ant. for about a month before switching to economics, something I never regretted (even though our various econ teachers sucked). After I few weeks with soc.ant. I realised that I really do not care when the average Samoan teenagers have their sex debut, or whether coconuts, shells or banana leaves were used as money before the 1950s.

If you care about that stuff then sure, go ahead, choose social and cultural anthropology.

Which IB school in what country have you done and if I may ask what was your mark out of 45? My school does not offer economics. Apart from the subjects you have to take, they offer Bio, Phys, Chem, History, and Anthro. So I guess I should take Biology and Chem?

P.S. Sorry about that, I forgot to sign in...

I took economics, physics, math methods, history, Norwegian A1 and English B. My personal favourties were physics and ToK, I'm now a philosophy undergraduate at the University of Warwick, upon receiving my bilingual diploma of 39 points. I went to Berg VGS in Norway.
